Bhumika Suryavanshi who hails from Rajasthan has donated 16 inches of her lovely locks to Hair For Hope to make wigs for Cancer Survivors on Chemotherapy. She is very spiritual person & has been working as HR professional for over a decade.
She has shared her views on Hair Donation in an exclusive interview with Team Hairspiration.
What has inspired you to donate your hairs?
Bhumika: I had very beautiful hair since my childhood and I am getting praised for it wherever I go . Naturally , I loved it so much. I have been regular user of Quora since last one year. Once accidentally , I came across the question if anyone has done something unusual that gave him/her a satisfaction.In revert of that question one girl has narrated her story behind the hair donation which has reminisce me a girl in the building of my office who must have suffered by cancer. I could give a guess because I had ever seen her with scarf fully wrapped around her neck and head.
Before Haircut :-
After a span of 8 months, I have seen her with good wig of real hair. She was looking very happy than prior. The narration of that answer on Quora reminds me this girl and recalled my intention to help her. So, I realized this is the way I can help any girl who might in need of hair and may be because of the hair wig made of my hair can give smile on her face which I had seen on that day.
You’ve donated your locks to Hair for Hope. Right ?
How you come to know about this organization? How much length you donated & your overall experience with Hair for hope.
Bhumika: Yes , I have donated my hair to Hair for hope at Kerala. I received the received the detail of website and address in the answer of Quora question only . I didn’t measure but approx 14 to 16 inches
After receiving the detail , I put a mail to the founder of the hair of hope organization and he replied me back with the confirmation of the address. I joined the organization on FB and ever taking note of lot’s of people connected to it. I find this organization is doing very nice work. I was never aware that my hair can also brought smile on someone’s face.
After Haircut :-
What was the reaction of your family & friends?
Bhumika:Ohh.. the reaction…No one has imagined that I can cut my hail like this. The organization where I am working, every girl come to and asked about I did it and I grab that opportunity to explain it is donated for cause and they can also do it.
My mother was not ready to believe that it is possible that hair can be donated. Then I saw her every pic on Your fb page and she got convinced.
